MACON, Ga. – Over 6,500 members, advisors, and guests attended the 95th Georgia FFA Convention at the Macon Centreplex, April 27-29, 2023.
The convention featured six general sessions full of award presentations, motivational speakers, FFA talent, delegate business, and the conferring of the prestigious State FFA Degree on 760 members. The Convention kickoff speaker was Mr. Krish Dhanam, a motivational speaker, encouraging FFA students to continue to work towards their dreams no matter the obstacles they may face. Other speakers on the Convention docket included National FFA President, Andrew Seibel, and the Honorable Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper bringing greetings to Georgia FFA. In addition to the award sessions, the convention featured a career show, community service projects, and state level Career and Leadership Development Events and Agriscience Fair competitions.
The convention wrapped up on Saturday, April 29th, with the election of the 2023-2024 State FFA Officer Team. The new team consists of State President Ian Heath from Madison County, Secretary Macy Goodman from Bainbridge, North Region Vice-Presidents Emma Storey from Jefferson City and Cindy Ramos-Ayala from Eastside, Central Region Vice-Presidents Andrew Carnley from Perry and Angel Rivas from Hampton, and South Region Vice-Presidents Ela Grace Ash from Irwin County and Bobby Ray Staudt from Long County.
The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, changed its name in 1988 to reflect the growth and diversity of agriculture. There are nearly 860,000 FFA members nationwide. The Georgia Association has more than 80,000 members, making it the third largest Association in the nation. The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success, through agricultural education.
