MACON, Ga. – Winners of the FFA Quiz Leadership Development Event (LDE) were recognized at the 95th Georgia FFA State Convention held at the Macon Centreplex on April 27-29, 2023.
In the junior division, Claire Whidden of Berrien County was the state winner, followed by Aubri Menard of West Jackson Middle and Madeline Kendrick of GSIC finishing second and third, respectively.
In the senior division, Alyssa Tyson of Tift County was the state winner, followed by Kathryn Kovacic of Woodland and Kate Walker of North Oconee finishing second and third, respectively.
CDE and LDE awards are granted to FFA members and teams who have exhibited premier leadership, personal growth, and career success in a variety of competitions. The FFA Quiz LDE is designed to test participants’ knowledge of FFA history and facts, as well as parliamentary procedure. Finalists are determined by a written examination, with a winner chosen after the completion of oral questions.
The FFA Quiz Leadership Development Event was sponsored by the Georgia FFA Alumni and Supporters Association.
All individual and team winners received a plaque and a cash award. The winner received $100. The second place individual received $50 and third place individual received $25. Additionally, the advisor of the state winning individual received a $100 cash award.
The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, changed its name in 1988 to reflect the growth and diversity of agriculture.
